The management of ISM eCompany
The Number One in eBusiness is not a position that comes
easily. A short history of two of the main driving forces for
ISM eCompany, managing partners Karel van der Woude and Michiel
Schipperus, is presented to you.
During his study at Nyenrode Business University Karel van der
Woude becomes friends with Jan Kees de Jager. Once graduated the
two good friends decide to start their own company.
Renowned customers
In 1992 Spectra Vision, the current ISM eCompany, is born. The
focus is mostly on interactive kiosks, CD-Rom productions and
newspaper systems for retailers. The starting company, their
student residence is basically their home base, soon receives
requests from some renowned customers. During the expansion of the
company - the name Spectra Vision has been changed to Innovative
Solutions in Media (ISM) - Karel graduates in company law.
Meanwhile Michiel Schipperus starts his career at ISM eCompany in
1999. Combining his work with an economics study at the Erasmus
University in Rotterdam. They prove to be the first steps in a
career that will eventually take him to management level. Michiel
fills many roles within ISM eCompany during this time, amongst
others project manager and account manager.
Focus on internet
In 2003 the company has grown to 35 specialists and the focus
has shifted to the realization of internet solutions. The movements
of the growing company are noted and rewarded by the outside world.
In December 2006 Jan Kees is rewarded with the award ‘ICT
personality 2007’: a reward for his contribution to the
success of ISM eCompany and his versatile activities to
encourage the use of ICT in the Netherlands. On the 14th of
February 2007 Jan Kees de Jager is recommended as the State
Secretary of Finance in the parliament of Balkenende IV. With this
new challenge he departs from ISM eCompany. Michiel, who has taken
on the role of the third member of the management, takes over Jan
Kees's role.
Healthy growth
ISM eCompany in 2007 wins the Deloitte Technology Fast 50, an
award for the company with the largest growth.
